Description

Lunker Hunter WF12S3 is a fly line with a 50lbs braided core! Aimed at BIG catfish or saltwater fish, Yes; this line is a Saltwater line too! This has an aggressive, short weight forward head which loads your rod with minimal effort, once you’ve pulled the line you need off the reel; you’ll find that 2-3 false casts are all that’s needed to shoot & it shoots fast. Reducing the number of false casts is a good thing when you’re spending all day casting big budgies!
This line will handle catfish or Musky flies with ease and turn over, with the addition of a ultra-low stretch core which gives you even more sensitivity, control and performance. The 50lbs braided core will help with lifting a stubborn cat off the bottom or help keep them out of snags. Although this is a cold Saltwater line, it is just as suitable for cold freshwater applications. It keeps its suppleness in cold water freezing temperatures and with a super slick coating; reduces tangles while casting. In addition to the cold water side of things, we know that these lines are used in South Africa and Seychelles with no issues and would be ideal for Giant Trevally.

The line does come in WF12 Float or Sink 3, While we mostly use floating for catfish in the UK; there was call for a sink 3 version too.

To reduce plastic waste, this line does not come on a spool; instead comes in a recyclable bag. Hold the coils in one hand, place the other hand on the bottom coils and rotate your hands round so the line unwinds. Carefully unwind the line on the floor and once all unwound; spool on to your reel.

200lbs French wild Wels Catfish landed using the WF12F Lunker 4th May 2023, to date this is the biggest fish this line has seen! Caught by Barbel_fly.
An aspiration on sight and a fight of extreme violence for this fish, straight out of the Jurassic world. My combo #12 will have been up to it once again 😁 A special mention for the Lunker Hunter lines developed especially for fishing for giants in temperate waters by @predatorflyfishinguk, which remain very flexible even in cold water and which seem indestructible: clearly the best line on the market for this type of fishing
